GOP Leader: “No Plans to Impeach President”

The Immigration and Amnesty debate continues to rage. Critics of Obama charge him with derelicting his duty as President to uphold and carry out border law. Supporters of Obama claim he is merely trying to alleviate a human rights crisis in the face of an uncooperative Congress.

Certain Republican politicians and public figures have floated the idea of impeaching President Obama. I have said that this is a stupid idea. Impeaching Obama will not solve the problems they’re concerned with; it’ll backfire, and actually produce even more problems without solving the old ones. Thankfully, I’m not alone in thinking this.

As the Washington Times reports:

Talk of impeachment was cooked up by a White House desperate for something to rally Democrats ahead of November’s elections, House Speaker John A. Boehner said Tuesday, flatly ruling out any action on the controversial suggestion.

We have no plans to impeach the president. We have no future plans,” Mr. Beohner said. “Listen, it’s all a scam started by Democrats at the White House.”

I have very little use for Boehney, but in this case, he’s spot on. Attempting to impeach Obama is a bad idea, and the people talking about it need to shush up quickly.

To begin with, the Senate would never convict Obama. The House can bring impeachment forward, but it’ll be shot down. It’ll be a waste of time. So why even bother? And even if he were convicted, that would merely give us President Biden. I don’t know about you, but President Biden is not any more appealing to me than President Obama. That could make things worse, even; while Biden is a knucklehead in terms of public relations, he has far more political experience than Obama. I suspect he may be a bigger threat to liberty. I have suspicions that Biden could get more pushed through Congress than Obama can. I’d rather stick with the President who can’t legislate his way out of a paper bag unless Nancy Pelosi is by his side.

If Obama were to be impeached and actually convicted, I think the longer term impacts would be downright catastrophic. Booting Obama from the White House would give the Left a permanent “stab-in-the-back legend”. The Left has figured out by now that Obama is worthless, but if his Presidency were ended via impeachment, he would become a retrospective martyr. I can hear it now… “Obama was a bright young visionary who just wanted to make America a land of social justice, opportunity and equality for all, but his revolutionary term was sacrificed by Right-Wingers at the altar of Racism and Big Business!” Such a narrative will be used to push super far-left politics in the future. It ain’t worth it, I say.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Obama’s Presidency is basically over. The Obama machine has run out of “Hope” t-shirts to burn. He is a total lame duck. Let him sit out his term and leave the White House normally. Then he can get back to doing what he does best: schmoozing with celebrities, playing golf, and writing vacuous books about his own life.
